Men Are The Worst Thing Essay - 1444 Words

Louis C.K. has a joke that men are the worst thing to happen to women. The number one cause of death in women, is men. Conversely, the number one cause of death in men, is heart disease (Vafa). Logically, the survival rate of women would rise if heart disease plagued half the population. I suppose we could force feed lard to our male comrades, in the name of women everywhere. However, that seems a little brutal, and very messy. The more humane option is adopting the â€Å"power in numbers† strategy. Women do make up half of the world. We all are stronger and safer as a whole, than as individual sitting ducks. I am not suggesting total domination, but rather a collective unification of women, to provide support within a group of human beings all brought together by gender. I am surprised such a conglomerate is not already in place. Instead, centuries and centuries of oppression coupled with years and years of revolution, have amounted to a dominant patriarchal society that wome n still have to prove their worth in. Jane Austen, is one woman who has undoubtably proven her worth as not just a woman, but a writer, thinker, and human being. The females characters within her famous novels reflect her high standards for women. They are great examples of smart, complex, and witty individuals, who defy a world that constantly diminishes their value to their appearance and gives them limited opportunities for improvement.
